Phil VanOuse has been making a living as a musician in Pittsburgh for over 25 years, as both a performer and teacher of low brass instruments.
With the aid of an infrared lens, he can be seen (and heard) in the pit of the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts, as "principal" tubist of the Pittsburgh Opera and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre orchestras. Above ground, he performs close to 200 services yearly on the tuba, bass trombone, trombone, baritone, euphonium and cimbasso - in groups in and around the 'Burgh - having appeared for years with the Tuesday Night Big Band, River City Brass Band, the Jazz Conspiracy, Eastern Watershed Klezmer Quartet, the Pittsburgh Symphony and PSO Pops, Wheeling Symphony, and many more orchestras, bands, shows and tribes of noise makers. |
