Since 1993, Phil VanOuse has been teaching music - private lessons to students of all ages and levels, creating and conducting student ensembles, offering brass clinics to schools, organizing concerts and musical events for the community. He is part of the creative team in designing the Pittsburgh Youth Concert Orchestra (PYCO) School of Music, in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, which enables students the opportunity to explore music through ensemble playing, engaging classes, and lessons offered by some of the region's top music teachers and performers.

Phil serves on the music faculties of Duquesne University, the Carnegie Mellon pre-college program, and at Slippery Rock University, where he conducts the university brass band.
